About Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa, born as Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu in 1910 in Skopje, Macedonia, was a Roman Catholic nun and missionary. She is globally recognized for her charitable works and devotion to serving the poor, sick, and dying.
In 1950, she founded the Missionaries of Charity, a religious congregation in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), India, which provides aid to those in need irrespective of their religion or social status. Her organization established hospices, schools, orphanages, and leper houses all over the world. Mother Teresa received numerous honors, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. She was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta by the Catholic Church in 2016, nineteen years after her death in 1997. Mother Teresa's life symbolizes selfless service, compassion, and love for humanity.
